She started asking questions
They said she was brainwashed
She was hurt at the injustice
They said she was bitter
She couldn’t fit into their box
So they made her an outcast
He started asking questions
They called him weak
They called him paranoid
He tried to reason
They shut their ears
He thought the truth mattered
They proved him wrong
She trusted him
He betrayed her
Half truths, whole lies he spoke
And he was believed
He had won… it seemed
They trembled,
overwhelmed by the depth of the deceit,
Waves and waves of lies
Evil was winning… it seemed
So well disguised as good, so crafty
..But mercy pulled them out
Not unscathed
But they were safe
They were free
They would be healed
And in time justice would prevail
“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”
– Psalms 37:7-8 ESV
