Lies do crumble

I’m learning that you have nothing to prove to anyone

Let them misunderstand – they want to

If they cared for the truth,

they would ask you

You can’t explain yourself to everyone

Don’t fret over those who’ve believed the lies

Don’t fret over those who’ve made no effort to hear your side

It does hurt

but in the end

the lies will crumble

truth can’t stay hidden

justice will prevail

you will heal

It all started with a question…

She started asking questions

They said she was brainwashed

She was hurt at the injustice

They said she was bitter

She couldn’t fit into their box

So they made her an outcast

He started asking questions

They called him weak

They called him paranoid

He tried to reason

They shut their ears

He thought the truth mattered

They proved him wrong

She trusted him

He betrayed her

Half truths, whole lies he spoke

And he was believed

He had won… it seemed

They trembled,

overwhelmed by the depth of the deceit,

Waves and waves of lies

Evil was winning… it seemed

So well disguised as good, so crafty

..But mercy pulled them out

Not unscathed

But they were safe

They were free

They would be healed

And in time justice would prevail

“Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.”

– Psalms 37:7-8 ESV

Year 2017

If you ask her how the year was,

she would describe it as sort of an unexpected adventure,

marked by stomach-turning twists, and heart-breaking turns.

She felt disappointments, experienced betrayal, doubts, trials, losses.

Coupled with joys, hope, renewed faith, grace, love.

Looking back she wonders how she’d managed

to navigate through it all with her sanity intact.

Looking back she sees she’d been led

and kept by the Shepherd of her soul. Even now.

Her soul is rested. Sweet relief, she is safe after all!
